The Tuscaloosa Public Library Foundation hosted its Living Library event to spotlight the library’s essential role in education, access, and community connection — and to strengthen relationships with the leaders who help shape its future.
The event took place on Thursday, April 16 and brought together elected officials, current supporters, and key community members. Guests enjoyed food from local favorites — Sugo, Southern Ale House, Jalapeños, Taziki’s, and Big Bad Breakfast — while learning about the many services the library and its partners provide.
Community organizations shared how they collaborate with the library to expand access to learning, literacy, and essential resources. Library staff were on hand to highlight the services available at TPL and Weaver Bolden, including demonstrations of the technology available to community members and schools. Members of the TPL Board, the Foundation Board, and the Friends of the Library Bookstore also spoke with attendees about current needs and ways individuals can support the library’s mission.
During the program, Jennifer Pearson, Executive Director of the Tuscaloosa Public Library, highlighted the wide range of services TPL offers. Ryan Stallings, Chair of the TPL Foundation, explained the Foundation’s mission and how private support strengthens and sustains the library’s work.
We are grateful to everyone who participated and to all who attended. We’re committed to creating more opportunities like this to highlight the library’s impact and to bring our community together around a shared vision for Tuscaloosa’s future.
