Most people know libraries offer storytime and summer reading. But Tuscaloosa Public Library goes way beyond the basics.
In fact, TPL hosts “653 live programs” each year — and some of them are delightfully unexpected. Sure, we have classics like the Summer Reading Program, but we also offer:
- 3‑D printing
- Banner printing
- A Memory Lab that converts VHS tapes, slides, and cassettes
- Podcast and sound‑recording equipment
- Legal clinics w/Tuscaloosa Bar Association
- Tax forms and tax prep services
- Autism and Dyslexia Research Centers
It’s a lineup that reflects a simple truth: libraries evolve as their communities evolve. Whether you’re digitizing old family memories or learning to use a laser printer, TPL is here to help you explore, create, and grow.
And yes — we still love a good storytime, too.
If you enjoyed this fun fact, you’ll love what’s coming next. Follow along with Beyond the Books for more stories that highlight the impact of your library.
